What I learned from this very important cause was, schools are forbidding children's parents from speaking Spanish. It may all be the case that, they may be telling students that they are NOT allowed to communicate in the language; most likely Spanish. This is very disturbing towards my race. I am Mexican and I would most definitely wouldn't want someone to tell me that i cant speak my first language. I would like to take action and I did so. I signed the petition towards education. change.org
Ana Mateo was told she couldn't speak Spanish to the parents, and she still did so she was terminated. What is so wrong for communicating with the children's parents in their natural, root language they know? Many parents have stated that they weren't even allowed to speak to each other in Spanish. Ana is suing the school Devonshire Elementary in North Carolina for discrimination on Title VII grounds.
